The Turtlesong Oyster Liquid Culture *MCM Original* grows a beautiful white cluster of oyster mushrooms. Found here on a friend’s farm, not too far away. After that, Andrew then brought the Turtlesong Oyster back to the Mossy Creek Mushrooms lab to create the original Turtlesong Oyster Liquid Culture. This mushroom has a mild mushroom flavor with a great texture. The umami flavor that they add to every dish is incredible!
Liquid cultures are mycelium that grows in a liquid environment as opposed to growing on a solid substrate such as agar. Therefore, Liquid cultures are syringes filled with a mix of this growing mycelium and nutritious liquid. The liquid mushroom cultures can then be used to inoculate anything from agar plates, grains, sterilized substrates, or even more liquid culture. Each syringe comes with 10 cc’s of liquid culture. which in our experience is enough to inoculate 5 X 5 lbs bags of sterilized grain. After that, you can store any extra in the fridge until you’re ready to use it.
***This strain is still considered early in its development in the commercial mushroom industry. As such it can express itself in ways differing from our pictures. This can mean anything from color expression to yields and can be caused by your room conditions, time of year, or even temperatures. As this strain is tested in various growing conditions over time, we will be able to give more accurate descriptions and better set expectations.***
