Rocky Top Oyster *MCM Original*

Description

The Rocky Top Oyster, formally called BS8, is a cross between Lambert’s 123 and Northspore’s Snow Oyster. It is the new standard Blue Oyster in use here at Mossy Creek Mushrooms. The Rocky Top Oyster showcases an extremely deep blue pin-set, which matures to with a brown cap and a dark blue lip around the edge. This contrasts attractively with the stark white stems, which are a delectable meaty texture. This is indeed a fantastic improvement over the hard stem of other Blue Oysters. This is great for growing mushrooms commercially, as there is a higher amount of usable mushroom for your customers and chefs, or just for you to enjoy. Yields on this mushroom have been higher than average, with our record breakers pushing past the 3lbs mark easily.

***This strain is still considered early in its development in the commercial mushroom industry. As such it can express itself in ways differing from our pictures. This can mean anything from color expression to yields and can be caused by your room conditions, time of year, or even temperatures. As this strain is tested in various growing conditions over time, we will be able to give more accurate descriptions and better set expectations.***

Amazing culture and company

I have used many varieties of Mossy Creek liquid cultures and all have been spot on and clean. They are growing in so fast and are huge! We'll definitely buy again and again.

I am having trouble with the mycelium getting started colonizing my grain (whole Oats). its been 6 days and i see a little mycelium but its like it has stalled.

Rocky Top

One of my favorites. Produces lots of beautiful, flavorful mushrooms time and again. One of our go to strains.
