As the alchemists of old dreamed of turning lead into gold, so too do we labor tirelessly in our crossbreeding to create and bring forth on the most worthy of strains. And lo and behold, our very own Jackie Crawford, once a humble employee, now stands as the mastermind behind this incredible creation! Deep Blue Sea was born from the melding of our very own Mother of Pearl and Rocky Top Oyster strains in a cauldron of science and sawdust.
Appearance and Characteristics:
- Deep Blue Sea presents as deep blue and turquoise color reminiscent of the sea, and fades into a baby blue with a stark navy strip around the edges as it matures . The average yield is 1.5 lbs. for its first flush.
- The caps on this oyster are medium in size and clustered tightly together, all while being easily supported by sturdy stems that do the job, but aren’t tough and fibrous.
- The smell of this oyster is neutral and has a deeply rich taste and texture.
- Our MCM Original Deep Blue Sea Oyster has been tested tried and true through both our cool and hot East Tennessee weather.
